EDUCATION

2012 WEEK-LONG SCHOOL
May 13 - 18, 2012
St. Francis Xavier University - Antigonish, Nova Scotia

The NSGEU/NUPGE Atlantic Components Week-Long School is the premiere education event of the NSGEU. Held each year, all active members are eligible and encouraged to apply.

The Week-Long School provides a collective learning environment, both formal and informal, aimed at developing the next generation of leadership within the NSGEU. If accepted, you will make new friends, and come back to your Local renewed and energized for the work ahead, with new information and skills to share!

Courses offered this year are:

Leadership
Communications
Advanced Steward
Mobilizing the Membership

Please read the course descriptions and eligibility requirements carefully before completing and submitting your application.

For this specific education event, accommodations are single. Classes are held during the day and into the evenings. It is intense and rigorous, but previous participants have been extremely satisfied with their experience.

Unfortunately, space at the school is limited, not everyone who applies will be admitted. If you are offered a space you are expected to attend all your classes and evening plenary sessions. You need to come prepared to work hard, learn and have fun!

We will also select applicants to achieve a broad representation of our membership across the province and to strike a balance between newer and more experienced activists.

The attachment includes the application form, brief course descriptions, eligibility requirements, and applicable NSGEU policies. Please read through everything carefully and make sure your application is complete before submitting.

Successful applicants will be notified by late April 2011 and arrangements will be made for time off.

PLEASE RETURN THE CALL FOR INTEREST FORM NO LATER THAN
March 9, 2012
