Bill C-377 heads for a third reading before the holidays

It looks as though the Conservative’s Bill C-377 will get to the final approval stage before the House rises for the Christmas recess, according to the CBC’s Kady O’Malley.

Conservative backbencher Russ Hiebert’s proposed bill will impose new financial disclosure requirements on labour unions.

Last week, members began going through proposed amendments to the bill, but were in mid-debate when the clock ran out.  Normally, that would have meant the bill would be dropped to the bottom of the private members’ priority list, but Hiebert made a deal with Earl Dreeshan and swapped for a spot tonight (Dec. 11).
This swap means debate will be wrapped up in the nick of time to make it onto Wednesday’s pre-holiday vote list.
Not good.
