On the evening of Wednesday, March 25, the NSGEU is holding two emergency telephone town hall meetings with members of the Civil Service to discuss the government’s recently announced cuts to important public services and our campaign to oppose these cuts. The first meeting is at 6 pm. and the second is at 8 pm.
As you know, we are facing cuts in Community Services, Parks, and Tourism. On March 12, government announced their intention to privatize the Nova Scotia Land Registry, the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and the Registry of Joint Stock Companies. We would like to share information about our campaign, hear any thoughts you have, and discuss next steps.
The meetings will be hosted by NSGEU President Joan Jessome.
If you are in the following locals, outside of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), your telephone town hall is at 6pm:
Local 1, Cape Breton, Local 2-Pictou County, Local 3-Colchester and East Hants Counties, Local 4 – Annapolis, Kings and West Hants Counties, Local 5 – Lunenburg, Shelburne and Queens Counties, Local 14 – Antigonish and Guysborough Counties, Local 16 – Yarmouth and Digby Counties, Local 17 – Cumberland County
If you are in Locals 6, 7, 8, in the HRM or a member of Local 480 province-wide, your telephone town hall is at 8pm.
Participating in a telephone town hall meeting is easy. We will call you between 6 and 6:10 pm. or between 8 and 8:10 pm. on Wednesday, March 25. During the call, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments by pressing “0”. The meeting call will last about 90 minutes, but you can leave at any time simply by hanging up.
If you do not receive a phone call the evening of the event, please call 902-982-2258 for instructions on joining the event.
Please make every effort to participate on this very important call.
