As many of you are aware, talks between your bargaining committee and your employer reached an impasse on April 12, 2013.
Strike votes will be held at the NSGEU office:
- Wednesday, May 22nd from 9 a.m. to noon & 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Thursday, May 23rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday, May 24th from 9 a.m. to noon
Without a strong strike mandate, your bargaining committee will not be able to achieve a collective agreement that we can recommend to you for acceptance.
Currently the employer has proposed a reduction in your sick leave as well as a lower pay scale for probationary employees. There are also other concessions that affect employees’ rights in regards to probation, job posting, that the employer has refused to take off the table.
Your bargaining committee continues to be committed to achieving the best collective agreement possible for all Local 66 members, and we will keep you informed of any developments. Thank you for your continued support.
