Your bargaining committee met with your Employer on Thursday, September 26th for the purpose of exchanging bargaining proposals.
Based on input received from the membership of the Nurses’ Bargaining unit, a number of issues will be of the utmost importance to achieve.
The Union is committed to ensuring that NSGEU nurses continue to be paid the highest wages in Atlantic Canada and the middle of the Canadian pack. We are also seeking to introduce an increment at 20 years
We have also tabled a comprehensive proposal to address Nurse/Patient ratios.
As well, we have tabled a proposal regarding Psychological Health and Safety in the work place.
We are asking the Employer to work in cooperation with the Union to implement the National Standard that has been commissioned by Mental Health Commission of Canada.
We are seeking a numbers of other improvements to your collective agreement such as Scheduling, increases in Standby pay, Transportation Allowance, Rest Interval after Callback, Shift and Weekend Premium, Education Leave and several other issues.

We have scheduled 6 additional days for negotiations:
- October 10th, 11th, 24th & 25th
- November 4th and 5th
Local 97 will be holding a Local meeting on Monday, October 21 at 6 pm at the new NSGEU office at 255 John Savage Ave. in Burnside
