Your bargaining committee and employer reached an impasse in bargaining on Tuesday, May 14th. The union plans to file for conciliation today, Friday May 17th. We will advise when conciliation dates have been scheduled.
While we have reached agreement on a large number of articles, we still have two significant proposals that have not been agreed upon: travel and wages.
Your bargaining committee is fully committed to achieving a fair collective agreement for all members, but in order to achieve this goal, we need your support.

What is Conciliation? Conciliation is a requirement under the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act that takes place when regular negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Either party may apply to the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education requesting the services of a Conciliation Officer. The Conciliation Officer does not have the power to impose a settlement on either party. Instead, their role is to mediate between the parties and help them reach an agreement. We are committed to reaching a tentative agreement that your Bargaining Committee can recommend to you.
