Halifax – Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 267, employees of Nova Scotia Community College, have voted 94% in favour of a tentative agreement with their employer.
“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with the NSCC,” says NSGEU President Joan Jessome. “The Local 267 Bargaining Committee and their chief negotiator Art Beaver worked hard to achieve improvements that were important to the membership.”
Voting took place at NSCC campuses across the province and votes were counted on Friday.
The three-year collective agreement will be in effect from April 1, 2012 until March 31, 2015.
The agreement includes wage increases of 2%, 2.5% and 3% in each of the three years, as well as improvements in shift premiums, standby pay, and language relating to grievance time and meal breaks.
Members of Local 267 provide a variety of support services including administrative professional services, communication support, general service positions, technical support, library support and facilities support at NSCC locations throughout the province.
