Reminder to all members of the Civil Service

We are holding three important telephone town hall meetings for all Civil Service members and encourage all members to attend one.

The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the tentative agreement reached by your Bargaining Committee and the ratification process.

We sent an update on Friday, November 13 with a link to the tentative agreement. We have also included it here.

Grant Vaughan, Director of Servicing and Negotiations, will take you through the highlights of the tentative agreement in the video below. The video is two (2) and a half minutes long.

Members of your Union Negotiating Committee including President Joan Jessome, Executive Director Robin MacLean, and Director of Negotiations and Servicing for Government and Education, Grant Vaughan, will be on the call to present the details of the tentative agreement and answer any concerns or questions you have have.

Participating in a telephone town hall meeting is easy. We will call you between 7:00 and 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, Thursday, Nov. 26 and Monday, Nov. 30.

During the call, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments by pressing *3.

The meeting call will last about 90 minutes, but you can leave at any time simply by hanging up. If you do not think we have a current phone number for you on file, please contact us by calling 902-424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438) to update your contact information.

    Quote from CBC News…

“Meanwhile on Friday, Premier Stephen McNeil denied contracts would be forced on anyone.

“There’s not been legislation that’s been reported that we were going to force a wage pattern on people,” McNeil said.

“I won’t say we didn’t look at that at one point. It’s not something we had contemplated doing. I mean every government including the former New Democratic government looked at all of their options,” he said.

    “Was I legislating a wage pattern? No, I wasn’t.”

Thank you Tim for your comment. Don’t know why it wasn’t picked up more widely but Jean Laroche tweeted on 2:20pm on Friday, November 20, that he had confirmed with the Premier’s office that legislation was ready to go. Wish it was more widely circulated.

Is there a call in number for the townhall meeting tonight?

    • Holly Fraughton December 1, 2015 at 2:26 pm #

Hi Lyle, sorry for the delayed response! We just noticed your comment now. You can always call the Labour Resource Centre during a town hall call and ask for the dial in information. But if you aren’t getting the invite calls, you should give us a call to find out why you’re not on our list! 902-424-4063
