Local 101 Arbitration Decisions: Reclassification Policy Grievances

The union has received decisions regarding reclassification policy grievances on both the TAVI Coordinator and MAID Navigator positions.

Unfortunately, the Arbitrator has ruled the TAVI Coordinator would remain within the NUR6 classification, while we were successful in having the MAID Navigator position moved out of the NUR6 classification.

We are still working with the employer to determine the appropriate classification for the MAID Navigator. If we cannot come to an agreement on this, then this file will be referred to arbitration, where a new arbitrator will make the decision for the both parties of the appropriate classification for the MAID Navigator. We will update everyone once this file is complete.

Moving forward, these decisions will be used as comparators to determine the chances of success on all future files regarding reclassification. The NSGEU is presently reviewing three additional reclassification files referred to arbitration.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these arbitration decisions, please contact us by calling 902-424-4063 (1-877-556-7438) or emailing inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
