NSGEU
Recognition Programs

The NSGEU recognition program consists of four programs:

Long Service Membership Pin

The purpose of Long Service Membership Pins for current NSGEU members is to recognize membership in NSGEU or affiliated and/or merged organizations. (Note: it does not recognize service with an employer.) The pins are available for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of membership. Application for the pin is made by a member or the Local President and sent to NSGEU head office.

Certificate of Merit

The Certificate of Merit is granted by your Local President to members in recognition of contributions and active leadership within their local or region.

Solidarity Award

The Solidarity Award is granted to members who have been active in leadership roles in the NSGEU and the labour movement to recognize the significant contribution they have made to the labour movement as advocates of working people. Nominations are approved by NSGEU Board of Directors by a secret ballot vote.

Life Membership

The Board of Directors may award Life Membership in recognition of exemplary services on behalf of the NSGEU. Members who have been granted Life Membership are entitled to continue attending local meetings even after retirement. If not otherwise elected as a delegate to Biennial Convention, these members are also entitled to attend the Convention as an observer. Life members may be called upon to represent the union in various capacities.
