Bargaining Update: Local 58 – Gateway Homes

Dear members,

We are pleased to announce that your Bargaining Committee has reached a tentative agreement with your employer, Gateway Homes.

In early May we instructed the Conciliator to file his report with the NS Labour Board, advising that the parties (NSGEU and Gateway Homes) were unable to reach a settlement. Our intention was to apply for first contract arbitration. His report was filed on May 10th, 2017. Following this, the Conciliator asked for another meeting with us and the employer.

We met with the Conciliator and employer on May 22nd, 2017 and were able to reach a tentative agreement with Gateway Homes.

Once the employer has approved the final draft, which we expect will happen early next week, we will send you the tentative agreement and voting information, including the time and place. If the agreement is ratified by the membership (if you vote in favour of it), we will arrange for signing as quickly as possible.

We would like to thank all of you for your patience and support through this very long round of bargaining.
