Public Health Heroes
Good afternoon,
Day in and day out, our members working in Public Health have been working tirelessly to improve and protect the health of Nova Scotians. The importance of your work has been underscored by COVID-19, and we would like to take a moment to show our appreciation for your efforts to prevent disease and injury, while promoting and protecting our collective health.
Our world has changed so much since the pandemic arrived here in our province. And for our members working in Public Health, you really are the “tip of the spear” in our frontline fight against COVID-19. You are the ones who are on the ground, in our communities. Sometimes, you are the voice on the other end of the telephone line – telling someone that they have tested positive, or the voice reaching out to let another Nova Scotian know that they have been potentially been exposed. You are the ones calmly listening to our fears and worries, and talking us through these difficult times.
For many of you, your work hours have changed while the demands at home increased as well, with self-isolation, home schooling and exhaustion. On behalf of all NSGEU members, we want to thank you for everything you are doing. It’s your work and dedication that is helping to “flatten the curve” and protect us all.
Thank you.
