Pandemic Pay
Good afternoon,
We understand that many members have recently received notification from their employer this week, advising them that they are ineligible to receive the pandemic premium.
We believe it is wrong that any health care worker be denied this bonus, as you have all worked shoulder-to-shoulder to ensure our health care system was running when we needed it most. It shouldn’t matter whether you were working directly with patients: the work you do is equally important, and should be treated that way.
Unfortunately, since this bonus pay is not within your collective agreements, we cannot grieve the way the employer is applying it arbitrarily. However, we will continue to advocate on behalf of ALL health care workers to your employer and government.
We appreciate the work that you do on behalf of all Nova Scotians.
In solidarity,
Jason MacLean
President, NSGEU
