Civil Service Deputy Sheriff I, II & III Classification Grievance Update

As you are aware, your Union filed two substantially altered classification grievances; one for the Deputy Sheriff I-II classification (P-20-1594), and one for the Deputy Sheriff III classification (P-21-449).

The grievances were moved along and referred to adjudication on October 18th, 2022. Your Union and Sheriff Deputies have been working on preparing for the adjudication hearing, which was scheduled for October 18th, 19th, and 20th, 2023. The Union learned last week that the Employer was making application to the adjudicator, requesting an adjournment. This was due to not being prepared for the hearing, along with also not being able to provide the necessary disclosure to the Union in time.

The adjournment was granted on September 29th, 2023. The Union would not be fully prepared for the hearing without the disclosure requested from the Employer. Without it, could prejudice our case. We fully appreciate this is a disappointing news to hear. We are seeking new dates in the new year and will keep you informed.
