Halifax – The NS Federation of Labour will host a ceremony at 11:00 am at Province House in Halifax on the grounds by the plaque that was erected in 2002 beside the maple tree, also planted in 2002. If the weather is bad, the ceremony will be held inside. After the speakers, you are invited to lay a wreath on behalf of your organization, family member or friend. Sydney – The Cape Breton and District Labour Council is holding a ceremony at 2:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 128 on 850 Victoria Road, Whitney Pier, Sydney. Organizers have asked that bouquets of flowers free of ribbons/pins/styrofoam be brought as they are more environmentally-friendly. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Bridgewater – The South Shore Labour Council is having a ceremony at 7:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 78 Churchill Street in Bridgewater. There will be no wreath-laying. Lunenburg – There will be a ceremony held in Lunenburg at 1:00 pm at the Fisherman’s Memorial site, by the wharf on Bluenose Drive. Speakers will include Premier Darrell Dexter and NSFL President Rick Clarke. After the speakers, you are invited to lay a wreath on behalf of your organization, family member or friend. Port Hawkesbury – The Strait Area District Labour Council is hosting a ceremony at 7:00 pm at the CEP Union Hall in Port Hawkesbury (next to Dairy Queen) on 323 Reeves Street. Reception to follow. Kentville – The Annapolis Valley Labour Council is having a ceremony at 2:00 pm at the site of their new monument in Memorial Park on Park St. (Main Street) in Kentville. There will be a wreath-laying at this event. Reception to follow at the Labour Council Office at 362 Main Street.
