Tentative Agreement Reached Between NSGEU Local 53 and HRSB

Halifax – The Local 53 bargaining committee, which represents staff at the Halifax Regional School Board, has reached a tentative agreement that is being recommended to the membership for acceptance.

“We are very pleased to have achieved an agreement at the table, and to have an agreement we can present to the membership for a vote,” said Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, Secretary-Treasurer, Darren McPhee.

Details of the agreement will be released once the membership has received them at a meeting scheduled for the evening of September 5. The members will also be voting on the agreement at this meeting.

Members of Local 53 include school secretaries, teacher resource centre secretaries, booking clerks, central office receptionists and secretaries, payroll clerks, finance clerks, mailroom clerks, facilities rentals supervisor, and print room technicians.
