NSGEU update re:government’s Shared Services initiative
Attn: NSGEU Civil Service, Health Care, and School Board members,
On June 17th, the government made a major announcement to employees about the Shared Services Initiative. This long term project will result in changes for certain services among some employers, notably the Civil Service, the Health Authorities plus the IWK, and the School Boards.
The Union is aware of the Shared Services Initiative, and what it may mean for some members. Information received so far indicates that layoffs are not planned, and that reductions in positions will be achieved through retirements and resignations.
The Union recognizes that the announcement may have caused concern and uncertainty among members of the NSGEU. We will be monitoring the project as it unfolds, and enforcing your collective agreement rights throughout the duration of the project.
