Local 42 – LPNs, Health Care Bargaining Unit Classification Review Update
As many of you know, in mid-March the NSGEU submitted a very comprehensive Job Fact Sheet to your employer, as a result of extensive work done by the NSGEU and a Committee of your LPN peers. This Job Fact Sheet was compiled in support of the classification review process that the union initiated on behalf of Local 42 LPNs.
The employer asked for some additional time to review the Fact Sheet and we agreed, because there was a lot of information to review and it was in our best interest to try and get a reclassification offer from the employer at this stage. We believe CDHA has asked their managers to review LPN skills to assess the information we provided.
However, so far there has still been no reclassification offer from your employer. So, we are now insisting on moving on to the next stage in the process, which is the Job Evaluation Committee.
The NSGEU has been in touch with your employer already about this and on July 23, the union’s Health Care Coordinator will meet with your employer to ensure the next steps are taken as soon as possible.
We are trying not to allow a delay based on vacation season. Please look for another update at the beginning of September.
