What you can do to help fight Bill 1!
Bill 1 is taking away health care workers’ rights to have a say in their union representation, and will impose a contract on them without giving them any say in the matter.
Politicians and your employer keep saying that their wages and benefits won’t be affected.
They’re wrong.
If you want to know what health care workers stand to lose, visit this page, or talk with your NSGEU site leader.
Worried about what Bill 1 will mean for your working future? Here’s what you can do to help:
- Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, explaining why it’s important that you get to vote on your union representation (click here to view a sample letter);
- Email your MLA, the Minister of Health & Wellness, and the Premier;
- Set up a meeting with your MLA;
- If you’re a member of the Health Care bargaining unit, and may be moved into another bargaining unit by your employer, speak with your manager about classification transfers being proposed by HANS;
- Attend rallies & pickets with the NSGEU over the coming weeks (we’ll send dates and locations out via email and our website);
- Keep Informed! Regularly check your email as well as the NSGEU website, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and share information with your co-workers, family and friends! Remember, these changes are going to make health care in Nova Scotia worse, and that matters to everyone;
