You’re Invited: Celebrate International Workers Day in Membertou!
What: | May Day Rally Against Liberal Cuts and Privatization! |
Where: | Membertou Convention Centre, Liberal Annual General Meeting |
When: | Friday, May 1st, 5 p.m. |
This Friday, May 1st, we are calling on all NSGEU members to come out and celebrate International Workers Day, while rallying against government cuts at the Liberal annual general meeting, which is being held at the Membertou Convention Centre.
NSGEU members have been directly targeted by the Liberal government: they’ve tried to legislate away the rights of our health care and post-secondary workers, and are threatening to privatize many important public services, including tourism, land registries and home support.
We are all affected by these attacks. But it is particularly important that home support workers and civil servants make an effort to attend the rally, as your jobs are at risk as a result of the Liberals’ plans to privatize services.
Please, help us send a message to this government that they need to respect their frontline workers.
The rally starts at 5 p.m. at the Membertou Convention Centre and will go until 6:30 p.m. Bring a friend, coworker or family member – we hope to see you there!
