Local 20 – Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Bargaining Update: Vote Results

Your Local’s vote to accept or reject your employer’s final offer concluded today at 4:00 p.m. with 94 per cent voting to reject.

Your Bargaining Committee thanks you for your support and solidarity during this round of negotiation. This rejection will send a strong message to your employer as we enter conciliation. Please watch your email for updates.

What is Conciliation? Conciliation is a requirement under the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act that takes place when regular negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Either party may apply to the Minister of Labour requesting the services of a Conciliation Officer. The Conciliation Officer does not have the power to impose a settlement on either party. Instead, their role is to mediate between the parties and help them reach an agreement.
