Local 20 Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Centres: Update on Conciliation Progress

Your bargaining committee met with the employer for our second day of conciliation today (Thursday, July 27^th). We are disappointed to report that no progress was made. The employer offered no new positions or monetary adjustment to their previous final offer.

The bargaining committee informed the employer through the conciliator we intend to take some time over the next number of days to consider next steps.

Obviously, this puts our membership closer to strike action. While today was not a positive day, we want to assure Local 20 members that if strike action is necessary, any such action won’t happen before mid-September.

Between now and then, the bargaining committee will consider the next steps and send out more information shortly.
