Local 246 – Membership Ratifies Offer
Local 246 members have voted to ratify the tentative agreement. Ballots were counted at NSGEU Head Office on January 21st and 57% of those who cast ballots voted to accept the final offer that had been presented by the employer.
While the offer was accepted, it was an offer that the membership did not overwhelmingly or enthusiastically vote to accept. The members have clearly expressed disappointment in the inability to achieve the 3.5% long service increment that was proposed by the union on behalf of the membership.
The union has requested information from the employer regarding the timing of retroactive wage payments and will issue an update once the information is received.
