Local 45 – Université Sainte-Anne Bargaining Update Strike Vote Results

Your bargaining committee is pleased to announce that 95% of those who voted, voted to reject your Employer’s final offer and to authorize the Union to conduct a strike to back your bargaining demands.

This result will send a very clear message to your employer as your bargaining committee enters conciliation. We are scheduled to meet with the Conciliator and your employer on March 13 and 14 , 2023.

What is Conciliation? Conciliation is a requirement under the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act that takes place when regular negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Either party may apply to the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education requesting the services of a Conciliation Officer. The Conciliation Officer does not have the power to impose a settlement on either party. Instead, their role is to mediate between the parties and help them reach an agreement. We are committed to reaching a tentative agreement that your Bargaining Committee can recommend to you.

Your strong support and solidarity are greatly appreciated throughout the bargaining process, and we will be relying on this even more as we move ahead. Thank you for your support.
