Date/Time
Mar 19, 2016 - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PMDear NSGEU members in Metro A B C Regions:
Are you planning for your retirement? Do you want a successful transition to retirement? Do you need information on what your pension plan will offer you at retirement?
The NSGEU is offering a one day seminar for members who are interested in receiving information that will assist them in their retirement planning. Although all are welcome, this invitation is most appropriate for those soon to retire, and applicants will be accepted on that basis until the session is full.
Saturday, March 19, 2016Â
at the Holiday Inn Harbourview, Alderney & Sullivan Rooms, 99Â Wyse Rd, Dartmouth, NS
Application deadline February 15, 2016
Click here to reach the on-line application form
You must pre-register for the course and let us know if you plan to bring a spouse/guest. We anticipate that your guest is the person who is your pension beneficiary, or with whom you share finances.
The day will include information on:
- Politics of pensions, Pension updates and Fighting for Pension Improvements
- Information on the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
- General Information on Nova Scotia Government Retirees Association (NSGREA) and Nova Scotia Pharmacare
- Information on Public Service Superannuation Plan (PSSP) and Nova Scotia Health Employees Pension Plan (NSHEPP) and retiree benefit plans, when available
We anticipate that there will be more applications than can be accommodated at this session. We will not be selecting on a first come, first serve basis, but on length of time before retirement. Approximately three weeks prior to the session date, you will receive confirmation you have been accepted or a letter advising the session is full.
Please note lunch will be provided for you and your guest, but no time off work, mileage, parking, or other travel expenses are included in this program. This is a voluntary session for information/education purposes if you wish to attend.
Because a number of our members encounter harmful allergic reactions when exposed to certain scents the NSGEU has adopted a Scent Elimination policy. This policy prohibits members from using scented colognes, perfumes, deodorants, hairsprays, after shave, perfumed skin lotion, etc. while participating in NSGEU workshops and meetings. With this in mind you are asked not to use scents at this function. Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
You must complete the on-line application form no later than February 15, 2016. If you cannot complete the on-line form, please contact Zita by  email  at jcreemer@nsgeu.ca and she will send you a print version to complete. If there is space, late registrations will be accepted, but there will be NO registration at the session: you must be pre-registered. If this session is not for you, additional sessions are planned for future dates at various locations, information will be sent via email at the appropriate times.
