School Boards, APSEA, & Stock Transportation Telephone Town Hall

Date/Time

Dec 05, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Venue

WHEN: Monday, December 5, 2016

TIME:    6:00 p.m.

Dear NSGEU members working in provincial School Boards, APSEA, or for Stock Transportation,

We are holding a telephone town hall meeting on Monday, Dec. 5 at 6pm in order to discuss your rights and responsibilities during the Teachers current work-to-rule campaign.

Up to this point we have not been able to get any concrete information from your employers about their plans if there was a strike or a work-to-rule campaign. By Monday, we believe we will have a clearer picture of what your employers are asking you to do and will be able to help support you.

Our advice to members is: if you are asked to do work that would normally be performed by teaching staff, you should refuse. This includes additional duties and duration of their regular work.

If you accept extra shifts and extra work it will only prolong job action. Teachers are standing up for all workers in the school boards. Their bargaining demands include more administrative help and more support in the classrooms. This fight is yours too.

Please support the teachers and join our town hall on Monday at 6pm.  Participating in a telephone town hall meeting is easy. We will call you between 6 and 6:10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016. During the call, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments by dialing *3. The meeting call will last about 90 minutes, but you can leave at any time simply by hanging up.

You should receive an advance call Saturday, Dec. 3 reminding you of the town hall. If you do not receive a call, you can dial in at 1-877-229-8493 and press extension number 114013#.

If you have any questions please contact us by calling 902-424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438) or at inquiry@nsgeu.ca.

I look forward to your participation on the call.

In solidarity,

Jason MacLean
