Health Care Bargaining Update

Good afternoon,

The IWK and NSHA have now cancelled the remaining bargaining dates that were scheduled for Wednesday, May 12th and Thursday, May 13th. The Employers have now cancelled seven bargaining dates due to the serious challenges faced by the third wave. Unfortunately, the Employers have not offered tentative replacement dates for any of those days.

On May 11th, your Health Care Bargaining Council representatives filed for conciliation to address the outstanding items. Filing for conciliation means the Department of Labour will provide the services of an independent conciliation officer to assist the parties in concluding a collective agreement. The Council is now awaiting Conciliation dates, which may take several weeks, due to current circumstances around COVID restrictions and shortages within Conciliation Services.

We will keep you apprised of any further developments, including when dates are set.
