Local 45 – Université Sainte-Anne Ratifies Tentative Agreement

Halifax – Members of NSGEU Local 45, support staff at Université Sainte- Anne, have voted strongly in favour of their tentative agreement today.

“Congratulations to the Bargaining Committee and Chief Negotiator, Tina Webber, who worked hard to reach this agreement with the employer,” says Joan Jessome, President of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union.

The vote was 97 per cent in favour of the tentative agreement.

Highlights of the agreement include wage increases of 1.75% retroactive to July 1, 2012, 1.5% beginning on July 1, 2013, and 2% on July 1, 2014; a decrease in pension contributions from 10.5% to 8.5% effective January 1, 2013 with an agreement to review by January 1, 2014; a slight increase in severance pay; as well as a range of other language improvements.

Members of Local 45 include carpenters, electricians, library staff, administrative staff and coordinators, among others. There are approximately 55 members of the Local.
