Local 53 HRSB – Union Applying for Conciliation

Your bargaining committee met with the employer for a final day of bargaining on June 17, 2013. The union presented a package proposal to counter an offer made by the employer. The employer answered with a package and indicated that there would be no further movement on a number of important outstanding issues. Your bargaining committee can not recommend that the Local 53 membership accept the employer’s offer.

The union will be applying for conciliation to the Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

Parties to a collective agreement will request the services of a Conciliation Officer when bargaining has reached an impasse and no further progress can be made toward a new collective agreement.

The bargaining committee will be in touch with you in the near future with further information about the employer’s final offer and the conciliation process

In the meantime if you have any questions, please contact a member of your bargaining committee, or the NSGEU at 424-4063 (toll free 1-877-556- 7438), or e-mail us at inquiry@nsgeu.ca
