Local 71 – Union Files for Conciliation

Your bargaining committee met with the Employer for a final day of bargaining on April 2, 2013. At the end of the day, the employer presented a final offer which your bargaining committee could not recommend that the Local 71 membership accept.

The union has applied for conciliation to the Department of Labour and Advanced Education. Parties to a collective agreement will request the services of a Conciliation Officer when bargaining has reached an impasse and no further progress can be made toward a new collective agreement.

Your bargaining committee will be in touch with all Local 71 members in the very near future with further information about the employer’s final offer and the conciliation process.
