Local 76 City Homemakers Society – Union Filing for Conciliation

Negotiations for your new collective agreement are underway. On July 9, 2013 your bargaining committee met with the employer to exchange proposals specific to your local.  Your bargaining committee then met with the employer on December 11, 2013 to negotiate the terms of a new collective agreement. These negotiations focused on monetary proposals which include increases in wages, increases in shift and weekend premiums, and wage parity with Capital District Health Care Team Assistants. Talks between your committee and your employer reached an impasse later that day, and the union subsequently filed for conciliation on Tuesday, January 7.

What is conciliation? Conciliation is a process under the Trade Union Act where one or both parties can make an application after reaching an impasse at the table. Conciliation officers work for the Department of Labour and Workforce Development and they bring the parties together to try to resolve their differences and agree on a collective agreement.
