Union Meetings Scheduled Re: Disciplinary Action

You likely saw President Jessome on the news yesterday, talking about Capital Health’s decision to punish nurses’ who took action against Bill 37 in early April (see the full interviews here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-Eg138QPqI & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hqcnj1Noyxo). We sent out a letter from Joan yesterday, outlining the union’s plan to grieve each and every one of these suspensions.

We are also planning a series of meetings to discuss next steps:

• On Monday, May 26^th, Joan will be holding a conference call with NSGEU’s Board of Directors, to bring them up-to-speed on what has happened, and get approval on how we should proceed.

• The following night, on Tuesday, May 27^th, we will be holding a conference call with all of the nurses who are being disciplined.

• Finally, on Wednesday night (May 28^th), we will hold a virtual town hall meeting for all members of Local 97, to discuss our plan of action, and hear from you on this very important issue.
