Looking for Nurses’ Input: Nursing Strategy
Good afternoon,
Every day, in a variety of settings, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses make essential contributions to the health and wellness of Nova Scotians.
The Department of Health and Wellness and the Provincial Nursing Network are in the process of updating the provincial Nursing Strategy in an effort to ensure we retain nursing graduates and experienced nurses, and to ensure we have an adequate number, mix and distribution of nurses in the places we need them in Nova Scotia.
The NSGEU Provincial Nurses Council works with the Department of Health and Wellness via membership on the Provincial Nursing Network, which has held a number of face-to-face engagement sessions with nurses across the province. As part of their work, Council members have met with health human resources experts from Dalhousie University to ensure we have the most updated information relating to evidence-based retention and recruitment strategies. Now the Department of Health and Wellness wants to hear from you: frontline nurses.
We encourage you to visit the Department of Health & Wellness’ Nursing Strategy website, http://novascotia.ca/nurses before January 16th, to provide your views on the policy directions for the updated Nursing Strategy.
Thank you in advance for participating, and helping to build a plan that will ensure Nova Scotia will have an adequate number of nurses in the places we need them now and in the future.
