MEDIA RELEASE: Health Minister in Hot Water, QEII Without Hot Water

While the Minister of Health and Wellness is busy behind the scenes trying to figure out how he can force workers out of their unions and into unions of government’s choosing, he’s letting the province’s main tertiary care hospital function without hot water at night.

For the past month, health care workers report they only have access to cold water during the night shift on some floors at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

“Nurses are being forced to use a kettle to heat up water so they can comfortably bathe their patients,” says NSGEU President Joan Jessome.

“This is simply unacceptable, and is yet another example of a serious problem Minister Glavine should be trying to resolve, rather than meddling in the labour representation of health care workers.”
