NSGEU Local 57, Laing House, Ratifies New Collective Agreement
Halifax – Members of Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 57 who work at Laing House have ratified their new collective agreement unanimously.
“We are very pleased to have a first agreement for our members who work at Laing House,” says NSGEU President Joan Jessome. “With the assistance of the Labour Board, the parties were able to reach an acceptable agreement for the membership. This is how collective bargaining is supposed to work.”
Now that the tentative agreement has been ratified by the membership, it will be in effect once it is approved by the employer and signed by both parties.
The 14 members of Local 57, who work at Laing House, a peer support organization, provide services to youth between the ages of 16 and 30 who have a primary diagnosis of psychosis, mood disorder and/or anxiety disorder.
