Support Services Bargaining Update
The Support Services Council of Unions, which consists of members from Unifor, CUPE and NSGEU representing facilities and members from across the Province in the Support Services Bargaining Units, has just concluded two further days bargaining with your employers – Nova Scotia Health and IWK.
After two long days, there are still a number of outstanding issues and progress has been slow. This completes six days of bargaining: December 15th, 16th, 2021, and January 6th, 7th, 25th and 26th, 2022. This round of bargaining has been very challenging as we are unable to meet in person due to COVID restrictions and must bargain virtually.
While virtual bargaining has been a slow and tedious process, some progress has been made with language provisions. However, there are multiple issues in both language and monetary provisions that still need to be negotiated.
The Council has scheduled two additional days of bargaining for March 7th and 8th, 2022 to try and address these outstanding issues.
The Council will continue to report on progress of bargaining with members in the coming weeks and will relay as much information on the status of talks as is possible. Our objective is to be as open and transparent with members as possible, without undermining the integrity of the bargaining process. Please stay tuned for further updates in your email.
