NSGEU Local 45, Université Sainte-Anne, Votes to Strike

Halifax – Members of NSGEU Local 45, support staff at Université Sainte-Anne, have voted 97 per cent in favour of strike to back up their bargaining demands.

“While some progress was made during negotiations with the employer, there are still many important outstanding issues on the table, including pension and wages,” said President Joan Jessome, “Our members have spoken: they have sent a very strong message, and are standing up for what is right and fair.”

On January 21, 2013, the NSGEU applied for the services of a conciliation officer. Conciliation is set to take place Tuesday, February 19.

Members of Local 45 include carpenters, electricians, library staff, administrative staff and coordinators, among others. There are approximately 55 members of the Local.
