Bargaining Association Update: Letter Received from Minister

Dear member,

Unfortunately, we do not have much news to share with you on the proposal that has been put forward by the four unions to government regarding Bargaining Associations. If you haven’t been able to join us on our recent telephone town hall calls to learn more about that proposal, you can review the proposal package here.

Yesterday, the Minister of Health & Wellness sent a letter to our legal counsel to thank us for our efforts, but he does not provide further detail on what government has planned for labour representation under the new health care structure. In the interests of continued transparency with our members, we are sharing that letter with you here.

We are now seeking clarity from government on the legislation they plan to introduce during the fall sitting of the Legislature. We do expect to be consulted on this legislation, as it will directly impact all of our members.

We understand that this is a very difficult and uncertain time for health care workers. We will be sure to inform you as soon as we receive a response from government.

In solidarity,

Joan Jessome

President, NSGEU
