Government Budget Consultations Begin Tonight in Halifax

Please attend!

Tell them to protect and strengthen public services!

Investment in the public service keeps our communities and our economy strong.

The government is beginning a round of public consultations on their next budget which is likely to be released in April.

The first one is being held tonight in Halifax:

Halifax, Jan. 20, Mount Saint Vincent University, 166 Bedford Hwy., Rosaria Multi-Purpose Room (R302)

Information sessions begin at 6pm and table discussions from 7-9pm

We encourage NSGEU members to attend this meeting if they live in the Metro area. Tell the government representatives at the meeting about the important work you do for Nova Scotians every day. Let them know the value of the services you provide.

You can also point out that public employees pay taxes and spend their money locally which supports the private sector in communities across the province. Investing in a strong public service supports the private sector and a healthy economy.

Meetings are also being held at seven (7) other locations and times across the province until Feb. 23:

• Stellarton, Jan. 22, Holiday Inn Express, 86 Lawrence Blvd.
• Wolfville, Jan. 26, Acadia University, Fountain Commons, 26 Crowell Dr.
• Yarmouth, Feb. 2, Rodd Grand Hotel, 417 Main St.
• Bridgewater, Feb. 5, Days Inn, 50 North St.
• Dartmouth, Feb. 10, NSCC Waterfront Campus, 80 Mawiomi Pl., Room 2726, Woodside Wing
• Amherst, Feb. 19, Amherst Regional High School, 190 Willow St., Cafeteria
• Sydney, Feb. 23, Kavanagh Room , Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, 60 Esplanade

All meetings begin with a come-and-go, open-house-style information session from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be world-café-style table discussions. Participants can attend either or both.
