NSGEU Home Support Workers Employed by VON Vote to Reject Employer’s Offer

Province-wide – Members of four NSGEU Locals, home support staff who work for the VON in Kings/Annapolis Counties (Local 31), Tri-County -Shelburne County (Local 40), Colchester & East Hants Counties (Local 35), and Pictou County (Local 85) have voted overwhelmingly to reject the employer’s offer at emergency meetings last night.

‎“The members are sending a strong message to the employer that it is time they had parity with other workers who do the same job and share the same qualifications but work in a hospital setting,” says Joan Jessome, President of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union. “They certainly deserve the same hourly wage their counterparts receive.”
