Your local executive and NSGEU President Joan Jessome are holding a special meeting for all Restaurant and Food & Nutrition workers who are members of Local 119 on Thursday, November 23rd.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss your employer’s plans to move forward with contracting out retail food services, starting with the Tim’s 400 site at the Halifax Infirmary. They haven’t chosen to reject solutions put forward by the union in a counter-proposal which was submitted at the end of August (you can read the entire proposal here).
We have already filed a grievance because the employer has refused to provide important information, as required by your collective agreement, and are not prepared to accept the contracting out of these services.
We want to speak with you about our next steps at the meeting on Thursday, November 23rd.
Rosemary Mills (President of Local 24, Crothall Laundry Services) will also be attending to speak about their experiences with privatization.
Please make every effort to attend!
