Response to Essential Health Care Workers Program
Yesterday (May 7), Premier Stephen McNeil announced government’s plan to award a bonus of up to $2,000 to frontline health care workers who are caring for Nova Scotians during this pandemic.
While this gesture is appreciated by many, there are many other essential frontline workers who have been left out of this program. As a result, the NSGEU has written to the Premier to point out the significant omissions in frontline workers being recognized by this program.
We understand the incredible range of workers providing invaluable public services during this trying time, and not all of them are working in the healthcare setting. We are advocating for your efforts and sacrifices to be recognized, as well.
We will keep you apprised of any response we receive from the Premier on this issue.
In solidarity,
Jason MacLean
