HAPPY LABOUR DAY, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 – NSGEU Offices will be closed
Dear members,
Every year, union members, families and supporters come together on Labour Day to reflect and celebrate workers’ rights that have been hard fought for and won over the years, the struggles workers have overcome, and the challenges ahead of us, which we will face together.
Over the past year, workers have again faced a range of serious challenges, due in large part to the continued presence of COVID-19. I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for the labour and sacrifice of all workers, including the ones we represent as members of the NSGEU.
As a result of the ongoing pandemic, most events will again be celebrated online. Here are some of the events and items of note for the 2021 Labour Day weekend across Nova Scotia:
- The Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council in association with Mayworks Kjipuktuk/Halifax: Festival of Working People & the Arts present: The digital/online programming will involve both cultural programming, as well as short video messages from labour leaders on Friday, September 3rd, 7 p.m. For more information, please visit https://MayworkskKipuktukHFX.ca
- A message from NS Federation of Labour President Danny Cavanagh: http://nslabour.ca/2021/09/2021-labour-day-message-from-ns-federation-of-labour-president-danny-cavanagh/
Wherever you find yourself this Labour Day, please take a moment to reflect on the significance of this holiday.
In solidarity,
Jason MacLean
President, NSGEU
Please note: the NSGEU Offices will be closed for Labour Day (Monday, September 6th, 2021).
