Union Requests Meeting with Mayor, Police Chief
Dear Local 1995 members,
After meeting with members of your Local Executive and hearing their dire concerns about staffing shortages within the force, NSGEU President Sandra Mullen has written to Mayor Amanda McDougall, CBRP Chief Robert Walsh, CBRM Director of Human Resources, Deanna Evely, and CBRM Chief Administrative Officer, Marie Walsh, to discuss our urgent concerns. If you are a member of Local 1995 you can contact the Resource Centre and request a copy of the letter at inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
We wanted you to be aware that this action had been taken, and that your union is aware of the stress that these unfilled vacancies are placing on current members, including the practice of mandating overtime. We will continue to advocate for your employer to maintain safe and reasonable staffing levels, both for the health and wellbeing of the workforce and community.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Jim Gosse (jgosse@nsgeu.ca).
