Since the introduction of free parking, we have received numerous reports from our members at the QEII and IWK stating that finding parking near their worksites has become near impossible.
The Halifax Infirmary, Victoria General Hospital, and IWK Health Centre are located in a densely populated area, and the existing parking infrastructure has been further strained by the removal of fees, ongoing construction, and the removal of street parking.
We understand that the NSH and IWK are working on short and longer term solutions, however, enough has not been done to find a solution to this problem.
The NSGEU President has written Premier Houston seeking his involvement to solve this long and drawn-out problem.
