Local 37 – Guysborough County Home Support Agency Pension Plan Vote

Following the pension presentations held on Tuesday, December 17th, 2013, members of the Local 37 bargaining unit cast a ballot to determine which Pension Plan would receive their pension contributions on a go-forward basis.

There are currently 19 members in the bargaining unit. Of the 19 members in the bargaining unit, 13 members cast a ballot; eleven (11) for participating in the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Plan (formerly the NSAHO Pension Plan) on a go-forward basis and two (2) for participating in the Standard Life Defined Contribution Pension Plan on a go-forward basis.

We have contacted the Executive Director of your agency and advised that a majority of the bargaining unit voted in favour of participating in the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Plan.

According to your Collective Agreement: “If a simple majority of the bargaining unit favour transitioning to the NSAHO Pension Plan, the Employer will commence the process as expeditiously as possible. Subject to finalizing arrangements with the NSAHO Pension Plan, all future contributions will be made to the NSAHO Pension Plan.”

We are presently verifying that this process has been started between your employer and the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Plan.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Corinne Carey, Pension and Benefits Officer, by calling 424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438) or emailing inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
