Arbitration Board Order Results in Collective Agreement for Civil Service
Arbitrator Karen Hollett called the Province of Nova Scotia and the NSGEU back to the table on September 11. As a result of this work, the arbitration board issued a binding order resulting in a new collective agreement. You can read the Arbitration Board Order and Appendices here.

Through their diligence, the Union Negotiating Council (UNC) maintained your existing job security language. They refused to budge on this issue and, in the end, successfully got the employer to move off of what was a very significant concession.
We currently have no timeline on retroactivity, but your employer will begin the process of implementing the new wage rates.
The NSGEU thanks UNC for their commitment and dedication throughout this process. This order is a direct result of UNC’s hard work in representing the interests of NSGEU’s approximately 8,500 Civil Service members.
