Healthcare Admin Professionals: Vote Reminder

As you know your bargaining unit, Health Care Administrative Professionals is currently holding an electronic STRIKE vote.

As of this morning over half of the NSGEU members have cast their ballots. If you are one of those who have already voted THANK YOU!

But your work isn’t over. Have you talked to your co-workers to encourage them to vote? Please, talk to your fellow members because every vote counts!

If you are someone who hasn’t voted yet, please do so at your earliest convenience. Did you receive your Voter information package? If not, please search your junk mail/spam folders for an email from voterinfo@intelivote.com . If you are unable to find the email, call the NSGEU HELPLINE at 902-424-4063 or toll-free at 1-877-556-7438 for assistance, and we will be able to arrange a PIN number for you which will allow you to e-vote. The NSGEU can take your calls Monday- Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

You have until 4 p.m. on June 16th to cast your ballot, but there is no need to wait!

We have all heard it before, every vote matters, this is especially true in a STRIKE vote. During a STIKE vote the results are calculated as percentage of the total membership, not just a percent of those who voted. In short, a non-vote is a no vote in the final tally.

It is also important to understand what a STRIKE means. Your bargaining unit has turned down the employer’s offer. A strong STRIKE vote gives your bargaining team a much stronger position once they return to the bargaining table. A vote to STRIKE does not mean that you will be walking a picket line next week. A strong vote to STRIKE is a powerful message to your employer and will help raise public awareness of the issues with Nova Scotians. At times, a strong STRIKE vote is the quickest route to getting a deal.

Your bargaining committee has worked hard throughout this process, give them the support they need and send a loud message to your employer.
