Local 64 – Colchester Residential Services Society Bargaining Update: Essential Services Negotiations

Your bargaining committee met on May 28th and 29th, and August 12th and 13th, to start the essential service negotiation process.

What are Essential Services?

As a result of legislation passed by the past Liberal provincial government, the NSGEU is compelled by legislation to work with the employer to establish an Essential Services staffing agreement prior to any legal strike action taking place.

We were able to reach a tentative agreement on these essential service staffing levels, pending approval from the NSGEU Director and the Department of Community Services.

We have tentative dates to begin the bargaining process on September 12th and October 1st and 2nd and will keep you updated as this process unfolds. Please watch your email for further updates.
