November is Home Care & Hospice Month!
Every day in this province, hundreds of caregivers, nurses and home care professionals help care for sick and vulnerable Nova Scotians, allowing them to stay in their own homes.
The compassionate care these skilled health care professionals provide is more important than ever here in Nova Scotia, as our population of senior citizens continues to grow, and we are seeing all-time high rates of chronic illness.
The NSGEU represents more than 2,000 schedulers, care coordinators, caseload planners and home care workers who are integral to providing this valuable service.
Our home care providers are responsible for many facets of care, including skilled bathing, medication monitoring, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation and providing respite visits for family caregivers. They help ensure our loved ones can stay in the comfort of their own home, safely.
November is Home Care & Hospice Month. We hope you can take a moment to thank a caregiver today!
